The Basics of Baccarat

Once the second and third cards are dealt, it is determined whether the Player or Banker hand has won. If the Player or Banker hand has a total of nine, no additional cards are drawn. If the total of the two hands is greater than nine, a third card is drawn. The rules for when a third card is drawn are complex, but the general rule is that the Player or Banker hand must have a score of six or higher for a draw to occur.
In a tie, the game continues until one hand has a higher total than the other. The simplest way to calculate a hand’s total is to add the values of each of its individual cards. Tens, jacks, queens and Kings count as zero points while aces are worth one point. The hand with the highest total wins.
